Fic: Older and Far Away (2/?)
Fic: Older and Far Away (2/?)
Rating: R, I guess
Summary: Belle was not cursed, and lived twenty-eight years while Storybrooke slept. The night Emma Swan comes to town, she finds her way back too.
Chapter 1
—-
Belle always looks where she’s going.
So it’s not an accident when, after hearing the ruckus between the other guest and the Queen in the hotel mid-afternoon, she is walking down the sidewalk and crashes headlong into the blonde woman she followed to this town.
Rum has been left in Red Riding Hood’s care. Belle tried not to laugh at the idea of leaving her dog in the hands of a former werewolf.
Fic: Valentine’s Day (Time of Day)
Fic: Valentines Day (part 1 of 2) (Time of Day)
Rating: low R (for this part, NC-17 for part 2)
Summary: Belle is dissatisfied come Valentines Day, and tries to fix things. They don’t go as expected.
A/N: So this’d be the Skin Deep chronological equivalent - so between ‘Sunday Evening’ and ‘Monday Morning’, for anyone keeping track. It’s also a two-parter, and part two will be up very soon. Enjoy!
—-
Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday this year.
Of course it does.
Her father is behind on the rent, too, which should just add to making the evening as awkward as is possible. There are two things that Belle and Mr Gold never discuss: sentiment and business.
But today is Valentine’s Day, and her father is behind on his payments
Fic: Friday Afternoon
Title: Friday Afternoon (Time of Day)
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Belle is alone in the cinema, and Gold comes to join her. They have some fun in the dark.
Set post-Sunday Morning, and to understand some of this that might be necessary. I think it’s fairly self-explanatory, though, for the most part.
—-
The cinema was empty but for her: no one really watched movies in this town, and the mid-afternoon showing of whatever silly rom-com Belle found herself staring at was never going to attract all that many visitors.
But she’d wanted to be away from the flower shop, away from Ruby and Ashley - who she had lied to a week ago and now still couldn’t be around without wanting to tell them everything - and away from the world in general. She didn’t want to talk to the town that was, supposedly, filled with her friends. She just wanted to be in the dark, on her own.
Fic: Ink Stains and Pencil Shavings (1/3)
Title: Ink Stains and Pencil Shavings (1/3)
Rating: this chapter is PG-13 at most, rating may increase later
Summary: Belle French finds herself drawn to one of her students’ fathers, and Mr Gold doesn’t seem to have a problem with it.
A/N: this is the companion piece to Chalkdust, and basically the story from Belle’s point of view. Not identical, but the same timeline. Because I felt like things needed explaining, and had scenes I wanted to put in that didn’t make it. Prior knowledge of that fic is probably not needed.
This is set in an entirely non-magical AU ‘verse. Meaning that there was no Fairytale Land backstory.
—-
Belle had learned early in her teaching career that there were days that could go an awful lot worse than this one.
Her first job had been in a school in the bad part of Sydney, working with children who were already just a few years away from their first criminal records. She’d done her best, and never regretted the experience, but once the first window had been smashed she had decided that perhaps it was time to move on.
But still, with death threats and smashed windows as a frame of reference, Belle is not at all shocked or upset when Benjamin Gold - complaining somewhat melodramatically all morning of an aching stomach and nausea - decides to throw up his lunch all over the middle of the classroom floor.
Fic: Clothing Optional
Fic: Clothing Optional
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Belle cannot stay in her scrubs forever, and Rumpelstiltskin is more than happy to help her dress.
A/N: Inspired by the different clothes Emilie has been wearing in this new influx of set pictures. I said I’d write something about the nightdress and the dark blue dress. Also: Marchie and Sco asked for porn.
—-
When they arrive back at Rumpelstiltskin’s home, Belle’s hand is clutched in his. It’s tiny, shaking, freezing, but her grip is tight and firm. As his is, he’s sure: they’re not letting go of each other now, not for anything.
They’re both exhausted: they’ve been up all night, after all, and Belle has not slept in a real bed in decades.
They curl for hours on his mattress, tucked under all the blankets he can find, so tightly pressed together that Rumpelstiltskin believes they may yet wake to find they have been permanently fused together. And even though Belle smells of hospital disinfectant, and he hasn’t showered, and they’re fully dressed and too warm, really, under all those covers, neither of them want to move.
Fic: Sunday Evening
Title: Sunday Evening (Time of Day)
Rating: Oh, so NC-17
Summary: Belle mentions an old Halloween outfit to Gold, and he requests a live demonstration.
For Marchie, who wanted Belle dressed as a french maid, and Gold speaking French, and basically any other sexy pun you can make from Belle French’s last name. So here it is.
Set between ‘Saturday Morning’ and ‘Monday Morning’, for anyone who wants canon. They’ve only been hooking up a few weeks at this point.
—-
“You know,” Belle says, with a look in her eyes that’d be worrying if she weren’t naked and smiling at him, “Your house is massive.
Okay, perhaps not the exact words Gold had expected, considering how the last time she looked at him like that he’d ended up bound by his own neckties to the bedposts in the spare room, but he doesn’t comment.
Fic: Sunday Morning (2/2)
Title: Sunday Morning (2/2) (Time of Day)
Rating: oh so NC-17
Summary: Belle and Mr Gold spend their first full night together at his place, and things have to change.
A/N: Yes, it’s long, but it needed to be to get everything in. This is a big one, dearies: this is where things change.
Part 1 - Part 2
—-
Gold awoke a hour later, and saw the night still dark outside through the open curtains. He rolled away from Belle - they shouldn’t have been cuddling, this was all wrong, and gods above he’d known this was a bad idea - and pulled his robe from the hook by his bed, wrapping it around himself for modesty. He crossed to the window and closed the drapes, locking out the streetlight that had illuminated the room.
He could hear her stirring - she was a light sleeper, apparently, this Belle; his Belle had slept like the dead, and had once fallen out of her bed and simply slept through it, snuggled in her duvet on the floor - and her eyes blinked open.
Fic: Sunday Morning (1/2)
Title: Sunday, The Early Hours (Time of Day)
Rating: oh so NC-17
Summary: Belle and Mr Gold spend their first full night together at his place, and things have to change.
The second half will be up soon, but this ended up so long it got cut in half. Still pretty damn long, though. Follows on directly from Saturday Midnight.
Part 1 - Part 2
—-
Gold had to wonder if he was making a phenomenally stupid mistake here.
This week was doomed to be full of them, it seemed. First visiting her on Monday and allowing the cold mask to slip just a little - if she saw truly what was beneath, how much he belonged to her and needed her, then the world would come crashing down around their ears - and then Wednesday. Wednesday had been a disaster.
He’d looked everywhere for her, and she had simply vanished. He’d thought for a few, agonising hours that he’d provoked the Curse one step too far, and that she’d been taken away entirely for his carelessness. Perhaps Regina had seen them, and been spurred into action, his Belle spirited away like so many others had been before her by the Queen. He’d run himself frantic, searching for her when she was in none of their meeting places.
Fic: All In A Row (1/2)
Title: All In A Row (1/2)
Rating: PG-13 for language
Summary: Belle listens to the same song ten times in a row (or how Belle and Mr Gold spent their first two Christmases in Storybrooke)
A/N: Both a further contribution to the Rumbelle War, and a gift to you all for the Skin Deep Six Month Anniversary.
Marchie prompted: she listens to the same song ten times in a row. The song used is Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty McColl.
Chapter 1 - Chapter 2
——
She listens to the same song ten times in a row.
It’s not a love song, not really, not in the way a normal person would hear it. And yet somehow, Irish brogue becomes Scottish burr to her ears, and she smells whiskey and crushed rose petals when it plays.

He didn’t bank everything on it breaking that particular way: it would have broken had Emma died, as well. Barring that, it had to be True Love, and it had to be Emma. For all we know, given a bit more time Emma and Graham would have become True Love and that might have broken it. Even if she had aborted the child or decided to keep it, she would still have come back to Storybrooke: something would have lead her back there on her 28th birthday. That was part of the spell.
And anyway, her parents live there, and I think if given another season or so it’s likely that Emma and MM would have formed a close enough mother/daughter bond to break the Curse as well. Had Emma been the one to end up dying in a hospital bed, or MM for that matter, the other could have kissed their forehead as Emma did to Henry with the same effect. Emma just had to be in Storybrooke, and Gold worked with the circumstances as he had them from there. And there was always the death clause, if all else failed.
But I think there was also more to Henry’s adoption than we think right now. Gold had something to do with Regina getting him, we know that, and of all the kids in the USA (Henry was born in Phoenix, and Arizona’s a long way from Maine) Gold just happened to pick the Saviour’s kid? There’s something else there.
I think Gold did all he could to set it up that it would happen that way. But if it hadn’t - if something had gone wrong somewhere - he had more than enough fail-safes to compensate.

Fic: Saturday, Midnight
Title: Saturday, Midnight (Time of Day)
Rating: surprisingly, PG-13
Summary: Belle, fed up of being kept at arms length by Mr Gold, decides to stay away and spend the night with girlfriends. Gold has other ideas.
And so, a first! A non-smutty Time of Day, and the first part of a two-parter. Follows on from Monday Evening, and reading that first is advised to understand what happens here.
—-
“Alright,” Ruby sat back against the headboard, and brandished two DVD cases, “Are we drunk enough yet for Legally Blonde? Or should we go for 27 Dresses?
Belle knocked back the last of her drink, “Neither. Can’t we watch something cool, Rubes? Something not pink?”
“I like the pink.” Ashley protested, quietly, “I mean, Sean won’t watch them with me and the baby-“
“You want to watch The Full Monty again, don’t you?” Ruby narrowed her eyes at Belle accusingly, “Are you drunk enough yet to tell the truth?”
Fic: Not A Princess But Still Fair
Title: Not A Princess But Still Fair (Boltholes and Safe Spaces)
Rating: G
Summary: Belle and Gold babysit Alexandra for a night, and watch a Disney movie.
A/N: Written as a part of Ched’s Birthday Spam. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEARIE!
Marchie prompted: “Feathers everywhere” ; “Belle and Gold babysit Alexandria” ; “Buttered popcorn” ; “She asks him to watch a Disney movie with her” ;
—-
Rose had turned her big, sad, blue eyes on Rum, and really Belle thought he was a bit weak for folding so fast.
She’d said no more sleepovers, laid down the law after Rose’s fifth birthday party.
Rose and Alexandra are bad enough, but if they then add Emmett Athens, Gwen Welsh and Sarah Choblyn then they really had a problem on their hands. Belle likes her daughter’s friends, honestly she does: they’re sweet kids, really.
But they’re also nightmarish little creatures when left alone for five minutes.
Fic: Monday Evening
Title: Monday Evening (Time of Day ‘verse)
Rating: oh, so NC-17
Summary: Belle is sick, so Gold comes to her aid.
This was meant to be short, sweet, and entirely fluffy. Then Belle and Gold staged a mutiny, and this is what we ended up with. It’s a war post, by the end. More plot and storyline and we’re nearing the end now, promise.
—-
Gold swore that Belle had caught the cold on her own.
After all, he hadn’t gotten the least bit sick until after she had started sniffling. The cold that became a flu was most certainly not his fault. Even if the little knot of worry and guilt in the pit of his stomach begged to differ.
He managed to stop himself from rushing to her side for the eight hours he sat in his shop. She didn’t text, call, or in any other way communicate the whole time.
Fic: Wife Or Could-Be Widow
Title: Wife Or Could-Be Widow
Rating: M (nothing explicit, but still mature)
Summary: Kathryn and Jim are happy, until the Mayor needs to tweek their little world once more. Set during ‘Snow Falls’
A/N: IDK if this counts as a war effort. It might do.
—-
Kathryn and Jim McGovern lived a quiet, happy little life.
Every morning, at 7:15am, Kathryn would be sat at the kitchen table, and Jim would serve her her morning coffee and a plate of toast. She would smile, bring his head down so she could kiss his lips, sometimes his nose or cheeks, and murmur her thanks against his skin.
Fic: Chalkdust - Chapter 2
Title: Chalkdust (2/3)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Belle is Bae’s teacher, and Mr Gold develops a crush
A/N: This is set in a Storybrooke that really is an entirely normal town: no magic, no Curse, no ftland backstory.
ALSO: This is my 400 FOLLOWER THANK YOU fic. So I hope ya’ll enjoy it!
Marchie prompted: “Mr. Gold gets lost and won’t ask for directions” ; “An uncomfortable situation at dinner”
Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3
—-
He hasn’t caught even a glimpse of Miss French over a month, and he thinks he’s getting better.
He cringes, a little, over his former behaviour: he had acted as if he were a schoolboy with a crush, as if he were a child in her class daydreaming over his pretty teacher. If Bae acted that way toward a girl, he would never hear the end of the mockery from his father, and yet he had acted no better.
But then, five weeks almost to the day, he’s preparing to sort the sign outside his shop - the storm played havoc with it, and it needs fixing - when he comes out of the front door and crashes headlong into a pedestrian.
