Killian Jones is Death, all black leather and smirking hauteur, and he holds a sword pressed to Rumpelstiltskin’s chest, ready to push forward. Ready to kill.
But it isn’t the pirate man or his blade that worry Rumpelstiltskin: indeed, he does not even feel the cold steel pressed to the flesh of his collarbone, almost breaking the skin, almost drawing blood. His eyes are fixed on the pair to the side, his wife and child, one in front and one behind, one with wide eyes and one with a knife.

Yeah, so, Christmas that year kind of sucked. Well, the run up did, at least. Uncle David and I drove back home a day later, and if I sat there looking like my cat had died and not saying a word, then he didn’t comment on it. He’s kind of vague like that anyway, really.
Emma didn’t ask, mama didn’t ask, even papa just gave me a look that said ‘there’s something wrong but it’s probably a girl thing so I won’t ask’ when I was oddly quiet that night.
I wasn’t sad, or angry, or really any of the many emotions I probably should have been at that point were I a healthy, highly-functioning human being. I was just in a state of shock. Just quietly, coldly, and entirely shocked.

She didn’t see it, perhaps simply chose to ignore it, in the old world. It was easier to think him a man beneath when the monster’s skin was clear as day, when it was a matter of her heart defeating her eyes.

Summary: “If she doesn’t eat with me, then she doesn’t eat at all” - Rumpelstiltskin demands that his new caretaker dine with him every night. Belle does not take commands well.
Inspired by the part in both the Disney and Robin McKinley retellings of the Beauty and the Beast story, where the Beast demands they together every night, and Belle initially refuses. More a ficlet than a full fic, but I rather like it.

He had returned: she had been calling for what felt like hours, desperate for a response from her new captor (she’d hoped employer, perhaps companion, but no, captor is the word). She’d been certain that she had been left to waste in this dark, dank little place, forgotten and alone.
“What?” she asked, holding back the lump in her throat. She would not give him the satisfaction of breaking her, of forcing tears from her eyes or sobs from her chest.

Belle awakens from her slumber with a terrified scream on her lips. She would be been distressed - once upon a time she had sobbed through whole mornings - but now is an everyday occurrence, and it can be dealt with if not banished entirely.
Every night she dreams of ogres and castle dungeons, of scourges and flayings, and every day she spends trying in small ways to forget.
I’m off to Paris!
I have my queue lined up, three new fics (well, two chapters and a new fic) lined up to post, and am all packed up and ready to go.
I’m so excited right now I might just die from it.
So, for the next week I am in Paris with friends, and internet access will be very limited. I’ll try to get on once a day to check messages and things, but essentially I’m on hiatus until I get back next week.

He kept all the mirrors covered, and she had her suspicions as to why.
It was his home, and they lived by his laws, and she had accepted that fact when she first arrived. Belle was never a particularly vain girl anyway; she hadn’t been one to spend hours in front of a mirror, even back home and before the war.
But a looking glass might have been nice, she thought, just occasionally. She would like to know what it was her employer saw, when she came down the stairs each morning. She would like to make sure that the blue dress she re-hemmed and stitched for housework fit properly, and that the blouse she wore was clean even in the places she couldn’t see on her own.

Because unlike my last vacation, this one will be an internet wasteland. Mainly because my friends will not tolerate my spending hours catching up on Tumblr when we could be out exploring and shopping and things.
To be fair, we have all been saving for a year for this. Paris won’t know what hit it XD

Queen did business with him: Gold was her supplier, and she passed the goods along to the customers. The man on top doesn’t deal with the trash at the bottom: rumour has it he’s got a son in high school and a life in the suburbs, a nice little set-up, all legit and businesslike.
Belle’s never met the man, but the idea of doing so terrifies her.

He is torn between sighing and letting the boy suffer a bit before collecting him - because he’d told him that that ice cream was way past expiration and the stupid boy ate it anyway - and running as fast as his legs can carry him to the school to make sure he’s in one piece.
He settles for the former: Bae will live.

Bae stares out of the window through most of his lesson. He’s interested in learning - papa cannot read, not really, and it’s useful for getting anywhere beyond the village - but he’s easily distracted, his mind on other things, these days.
Morraine’s mother, Mistress Maisie, says he’s away with the fairies. Papa says he has a head full of sawdust, but he smiles when he says it, and Bae knows he wishes he could read too.
It’s just more interesting today to look out of the window, to where papa and Rose talk by papa’s lanolin barrel, and watch them smiling at each other. They look like the older boys and girls used to, before the war took them, right before the village elders would have them married and children would come.
