And anyway, her parents live there, and I think if given another season or so it’s likely that Emma and MM would have formed a close enough mother/daughter bond to break the Curse as well. Had Emma been the one to end up dying in a hospital bed, or MM for that matter, the other could have kissed their forehead as Emma did to Henry with the same effect. Emma just had to be in Storybrooke, and Gold worked with the circumstances as he had them from there. And there was always the death clause, if all else failed.But I think there was also more to Henry’s adoption than we think right now. Gold had something to do with Regina getting him, we know that, and of all the kids in the USA (Henry was born in Phoenix, and Arizona’s a long way from Maine) Gold just happened to pick the Saviour’s kid? There’s something else there. I think Gold did all he could to set it up that it would happen that way. But if it hadn’t - if something had gone wrong somewhere - he had more than enough fail-safes to compensate.
