Yeah, I get all that. But Rumpel’s hundreds of years old; Belle is clearly in her twenties in canon and still only engaged to Gaston; he’s known her from childhood so it feels a little icky to me… and it’s funnier if she’s throwing herself at him and he’s trying to be all noble and push her away.
Plus she’s baby!Belle, even if she’s sixteen right now, and I feel all big sisterly and protective.
